100-Question Bubble Answer Sheet (A–D, 2 Columns, A4)
For A4 printers: a hundred questions in two columns of 50 rows, A to D, with bubbles 3.7 mm wide. Because the page is drawn at 210 by 297 mm, nothing is rescaled when you print at actual size. One page, a free PDF, and a header for name, date and class.

This is the hundred-question grid redrawn for A4 paper. Because A4 is a little taller and a little narrower than US Letter, the fifty rows in each column get slightly more vertical room than on the Letter edition, while each row has slightly less width to work with.
The file was laid out on an A4 page from the first row, so there is no conversion step to go wrong. Provided the print dialog says A4 and actual size, every bubble lands where the layout placed it.
Who this sheet is for
- End-of-semester tests set for A4 printers
- Schools that standardize on A4 copiers
- Exam officers preparing one master for many classes
- Anyone who has seen a Letter sheet shrunk onto A4
When to choose this sheet, and when not to
Choose this sheet when your printer takes A4 and your test needs a hundred answers. A Letter-sized grid printed onto A4 is reduced to fit, which leaves every bubble away from where the file puts it; this edition avoids that by being drawn for A4 in the first place.
A4 is taller and narrower than Letter, so the hundred rows have a little more vertical room and each row a little less width. The result is bubbles slightly larger than on the Letter edition of the same layout.
For students who need bigger marks, the generator can build a four-column A4 version. Whichever you print, choose A4 and actual size in the print dialog and measure the corner squares on a trial copy.
An example
A school outside North America runs an end-of-semester test of a hundred multiple-choice items. All classes print the same A4 sheet at actual size on their own copiers.
How to print this at 100% scale
- Open the PDF and choose File → Print.
- Set the scale to Actual size or 100%. Turn off “Fit to page”, “Shrink to fit” and any borderless option.
- Set the paper size to A4 (210 × 297 mm).
- Print one copy and check the four corner squares: each should sit about 5 mm (3/16 inch) in from the paper edge.
Why the fuss? A page scaled by even two percent moves every bubble slightly, and a camera grader measures where a bubble should be. Print at true size and the grid is where the grader expects it; print scaled and it may not be.
Printing note. Choose A4 as the paper and Actual size as the scale. Viewers sometimes default to a fit option, so look for it each time: a fit setting quietly resizes the page.
How to use it
- Print one copy per student at 100% scale, single-sided.
- Have students fill in the header block first — name, date and class, and the Student ID grid if this sheet has one.
- For each question, fill one bubble completely. A half-filled bubble is a common cause of a mark being missed, and an X or a check mark can be another.
- Erase cleanly and completely. Smudged erasures can read as filled bubbles to a camera.
- Grade against an answer key — see the guide on making a test key overlay.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if I print an A4 sheet on Letter paper?
The page is scaled down slightly to fit the shorter paper, which shrinks every bubble and tightens the rows. If you are in the United States, use the Letter version of this sheet instead.
Do all 100 questions fit on one A4 page?
Yes — two columns of fifty rows on one side of one sheet, with the header block across the top.
Does paper size matter to whoever is grading the sheets?
Not for marking by hand, as long as an overlay is cut from the same A4 edition. If you use software, read its documentation for page-size requirements; we have not tested any.
Is the file really free?
Yes. No account, no email gate, no paywall. The PDF is a static file served directly from the page.
Are the bubbles larger on A4 than on Letter?
Slightly: A4 gives the hundred rows a little more height. The specs table on this page and on the Letter page give both widths.
Is there a four-column A4 version?
Not as a ready-made file. The generator can build a hundred questions in four columns on A4, with larger bubbles; check the preview and print one copy before a class set.
