Bubble sheet generator
Choose a layout and the sheet updates beside you. The PDF is built on your device, at print size, with nothing uploaded.
The answer key and overlay unlock once you mark an answer.
Print at Actual size (100%), not “Fit to page”.
How this is different
- Nothing you generate leaves your device. Some online sheet builders upload your settings to a server to render the file. This one renders in your browser and hands you the file directly, so nothing about your sheet is sent to a server.
- Answer key and overlay, still in your browser. Mark the correct answers and download a marked key or a cutout overlay without the key ever leaving the tab. A class roster works the same way: it is read in the page and never uploaded.
- The preview is the file. Both come from one layout engine, so there is no “preview looks right but the PDF came out different” problem.
- Layouts are checked, not guessed. Every ready-made sheet, plus six layouts only the generator can produce, is rasterized and pixel-probed during the build to confirm bubble positions, page size and margins, on both Letter and A4.
Tips for a sheet that grades cleanly
- Give each question the number of choices it actually has — an unused fifth bubble collects stray marks.
- For younger students, add columns: fewer rows means bigger bubbles.
- Announce the column order before the test: questions run down each column, then move right.
- Print one copy first and check the corner squares sit about 5 mm (3/16 inch) from each edge.
Generator questions
Does my sheet get uploaded anywhere?
No. The preview and the PDF are both built in your browser tab by code running on your device. Nothing about your sheet — not the title, not the question count, not the file — is sent to a server.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no signup, no email gate and no usage cap. Generate as many sheets as you like.
How many questions can I put on a sheet?
Between 1 and 300. The engine lays out as many rows as fit at a legible bubble size and then continues onto extra pages, adding a name line to every continuation page so a loose sheet can still be identified.
Why did the column count change on its own?
Some combinations do not fit. Eight choices need more width than four, and A4 is narrower than Letter, so the generator disables column counts that would push bubbles off the page and picks the widest workable one instead.
Will it work with my grading app?
It depends on the app, and we have not tested any. Many camera-based graders look for a regular grid of circles rather than a specific form, but these sheets are not affiliated with or endorsed by any commercial scanning brand, so test one sheet with a known answer pattern before grading a full class set.
Is my answer key uploaded or saved?
No. The key lives only in this browser tab's memory while the page is open. It is not sent anywhere, not saved on your device, and not written into the page address, so closing the tab clears it. The sheet settings, by contrast, are in the link so you can share a layout.
What is the cutout overlay key and how do I use it?
It is a page with a dashed circle on every correct bubble. Print it at 100% on a transparency or on card, cut out the circles, lay it over a student sheet with the corner squares lined up, and every correct answer shows through as a dark bubble. Count what you see. The how-to guide covers cutting, lining up and counting.
What are half-sheet and quarter-sheet layouts?
For 10 to 25 questions you can print two sheets (half-sheets) or four sheets (quarter-sheets, handy for exit tickets) on one US Letter page and cut along the dashed lines. Each slip is a complete sheet with its own corner squares and name line, so a cut slip grades like a full one.
Can I share the sheet I just made?
Yes. Your settings are written into the page URL, so copying the address out of the address bar gives someone else the same sheet. Nothing is stored on our side — the settings live in the link itself.
